Guam - Vice Speaker B.J. Cruz has introduced legislation that would require tax clearances for professional licenses through the Department of Rev & Tax. These professional licenses include medical licenses, attorney, professional engineer, architect and land surveyor.

DRT director John Camacho supports Bill 261, saying it's all about fairness. "But the boards that are out there, we don't have control, in other words they issue their own licenses without clearing with the department of revenue and taxation so hopefully if this law passes it gives us the opportunity to work with these if they're not actually filing their income tax or paying their GRT or withholding whatever law requires of them to file and pay," he said.

Speaking of tax clearances, Cruz also introduced Bill 260 that would require tax clearances within the financial disclosure of all candidates for public office and all officials appointed by the governor.
