Guam - Lawmakers are scheduled to head back into session Monday afternoon when they are likely to start debate on Bill 20. The measure, better known as The GMH Healthcare Trust and Development Act of 2013, was introduced by Senator Dennis Rodriguez, Jr.

The bill proposes helping pay off the Guam Memorial Hospital's multimillion dollar debt by providing approximately $9 million annually to GMH, funded by a 4% fee assessed on premiums collected by health insurance companies doing business locally. Bill 20 also helps fund the construction of an urgent primary care center.

KUAM News has been told, however, that when the bill hits the floor there could be some significant amendments.

Session resumes Monday at 3 o'clock in the afternoon.
