Guam - Many of the island's public schools have been around for decades, but come June the Department of Education anticipates a detailed facilities assessment on every DOE building. At the last Guam Education Board meet, DOE superintendent Jon Fernandez announced the Army Corps of Engineers conducted the assessment which includes an energy audit of 35 the island's 40 public schools, excluding leased schools like John F. Kennedy and Okkodo High Schools.

"We will be getting an executive summary and a building by building analysis along with a set of recommendations as to how to remediate any of the issues that they found as well as some cost estimates. I think based on that we can use that as a major chunk of a master facilities plan," he said.

The final report will be available for public viewing.
