Carillo verbally resigned from GEC board after drug arrest
Guam - Democratic Party of Guam acting chairman and treasurer Carlos Pangelinan confirms with KUAM News that Chris Carillo verbally resigned with the party from his position with the Guam Election Commission following his arrest on drug charges. Pangelinan says the Democratic Party is now procuring written notification of his resignation as well to make it formal, noting that is obviously difficult to get a written notification when someone is detained.
He adds the Democratic Party of Guam's central executive committee now has to meet and discuss a replacement which some people have already expressed interest.
GEC executive director Maria Pangelinan confirms she is in receipt of the resignation letter which states Carillo’s resignation is effective immediately. Carillo was arrested last week on drug charges. Vice Speaker B.J. Cruz terminated him as a research analyst at his office.
