Guam - 21-year-old Chad Desoto's name should sound familiar to Guamanians. He played the starring role in the 2011 John F. Kennedy High School-produced full length film "iHeartGU". He and several of his classmates produced the movie to raise funds for JFK's graduation and prom. A year later, he graduated from the Upper Tumon school.

Desoto served as the sound engineer, musical composer, and writer for the local production group project: Inspire.

KUAM News learned today that members of the iHeartGU cast met today to discuss what happened, but declined doing an interview with us.  Meanwhile, the Department of Education is taking precautionary measures at JFK. According to DOE deputy superintendent Rob Malay, counselors are available to talk to students who may have been classmates or friends with Desoto. He said, "We put together a group of folks this morning to meet with the leadership over at the high school to provide whatever supports are needed and necessary to make sure the students at the school are supported in this difficult time."

Malay says DOE will continue to monitor how many students are turning to school counselors on this incident.
