Career and college planning could save students money

Guam - Career and college planning could save a college student thousands of dollars. According to Oscar Miyashita of Ernst and Young, who spoke to Rotarians last week, students take longer to graduate and waste money when they continually change majors. He adds that one in four college students will drop out.
"The cost of college education has gone up just so exponentially over the years and I don't think anyone would ever argue about that," he said. "When I went to the University of San Diego, the cost of education was about $6,000 or $6,500. Right now, the same institute cost over $60,000 that's almost ten times."
Miyashita advises college hopefuls to consider possible occupations, match those occupations to majors, match majors to colleges, and ultimately, match a student to a college.
