Guam - Will other elected leaders follow in their footsteps? This month marks one year since Governor Eddie Calvo and Lieutenant Governor Ray Tenorio as well as their senior staff cut their pay by 10%. According to Adelup, by the end of the month $135,000 of their earnings will have been deposited into the Tax Refunds Account.

According to Governor Calvo, he and his staff are the only officials to personally contribute to tax refunds.

And because the pay of the governor and lieutenant governor, like senators, are set by law and could not be lowered, the Department of Administration has made the accounting deduction directly from the governor and lieutenant governor's paychecks into the tax refunds accounts.

DOA is inviting other elected leaders who may be interested in deducting from their salary to give them a call.
