Expert will conclude if charges should be dropped

Guam - The Superior Court of Guam is now waiting for the completion of an off-island medical expert review to determine if manslaughter charges against Mary Rojas and Ray Anthony Hocog should be dismissed. Defense attorney F. Randall Cunliffe stated in court this week that he retained services of medical expert Dr. Joseph Cohen in San Francisco, California to review the medical records and autopsy reports for the couple's 14-month-old child, who died last year.
The child died from malnutrition and pneumonia. Cunliffe filed the motion to dismiss the couple's case arguing the experts' review will prove the child's failure to thrive resulted in her death and was not due to the alleged neglect. The pair charges of negligent homicide and child abuse.
They will return to court on October 2.
