Guam - Senator Chris Duenas was among a few island lawmakers who attended today's change of command ceremony for the Navy. Duenas called Rear Admiral Paul Bushong's comments very bold, but said he didn't take offense to the officer's message that Guam's leaders must have a unified voice if the island wants more economic opportunities and a real realignment of the military.
"I think it was a callout to all those seeking elected office that are going to represent this island that if a support a stronger military presence and the economic opportunity that come with it, that they need to be vocal in supporting that effort," he stated.
