Guam – New Department of Education superintendent Jon Fernandez will be asking the Guam Education Board to delay the implementation of the controversial 4-AB schedule for one year to provide adequate time to gather input from stakeholders and to allow for proper planning. Already the Department of Public Works has expressed serious concerns with the delay in making a final decision and impacts on logistics of providing bus services.

GEB chairperson Francis Santos reacted by saying if Fernandez wants more time to make sure we get it right "we will support him".

The only exception would be Southern High School, which according to Fernandez, operates under the John Hopkins curriculum. SHS will go to a 4-x-4 block schedule to ensure that the curriculum can be implemented effectively.
