Guam - Tropical Depression 03W has been upgraded to a tropical storm by the National Weather Service. A tropical storm warning is now in effect for Guam and Rota, while a storm watch is in effect for the rest of the CNMI. The tropical storm 03W is located 60 miles southwest of Guam and is moving northwest at 9 MPH. Maximum sustained winds are now being recorded at 40 MPH, and the storm is expected to slowly intensify during the next 24 hours. Damaging winds are expected with gusts as high as 45 MPH in heavy showers.

NWS also issued an urban and small flood advisory for villages such as Yigo, Tamuning, Finegayan, Barrigada, Mangilao, Dededo, Apra Harbor, Andersen Air Force Base, Agana Heights and Agat.

A special marine warning was also issued for Guam coastal waters. Mariners can expect gusty winds, high waves and heavy rains, and boaters should seek safe harbor immediately.
