Guam - Selected by the Department and Health and Human Services, the progress of the Guam Health Information Exchange system was showcased at the Healthcare and Information and Management Systems Society 2012 Conference held recently in Las Vegas, Nevada. Chief information officer Ed Cruz and Guam Memorial Hospital information technology administrator Vince Quichocho held the live demonstrations which showcased how coordinated care and disaster preparedness could be improved for Guam through collaboration with national and local emergency response programs.
The Guam HIE is a secure federal network that allows doctors, medical labs, pharmacies and insurance companies on Guam to exchange medical information to improve patient care and reduce costs.
