Elderly tourist dies after incident in Tumon

Guam - A 72-year-old Japanese tourist who was pulled from the waters in Tumon on Christmas day after nearly drowning has died. According to a Guam Memorial Hospital nursing supervisor, the elderly man was pronounced dead at 4:22pm on Monday. Lifeguards and off duty fire fighters pulled the man to shore behind the Nikko hotel just before noon on Sunday. Medics performed CPR during transport to the hospital. The man spent just over a day on life support in the intensive care unit on a ventilator. An autopsy is scheduled for this afternoon.
