GFT hopes to proceed with arbitration
Guam - The Guam Federation of Teachers hopes to proceed with arbitration for the Port Authority of Guam's contract after several requests were made to resume negotiations. In a letter to PAG general manager Pedro Leon Guerrero, the GFT wrote how they have sent letters repeatedly over the last year in an effort to resume negotiations for the Port's employees' contract.
The GFT decided to proceed with arbitration after concluding that they are at an impasse on contract negotiations. The GFT contends that Port workers have been waiting patiently to continue Negotiations so that they can finally have a contract in place to improve their working conditions and ensure justice and fairness at their workplace.
Meanwhile, board chairman Dan Tydingco says the Port's legal counsel is looking into the GFT's claims and evaluating their assertions.
