Guam - Last week, the University of Guam Field Experience Class and the UOG Communications Society hosted Kyoso-Con, which took a look at the rise of competitive gaming. The forum was a way to educate the public of the benefits competitive video gaming has on youth and the general community - from athleticism, skills, and strategy.

Event coordinator Kyla Aquino explained, saying, "The overall goal of Kyoso-Con is to educate the general public that the things that these kids do, they engage in is more than just sitting down in front of the TV - it is an engaging sport, it's dedication, it's a commitment to something they are really good at."

Forum speaker Peter Quimbao, Jr. said, "It's basically speed chess. There are two players looking at each other trying to understand the other player's tendencies, understanding what is their best option - the risk and reward factors all these things that fly through their head like split second...people don't realize all that goes behind these fighting games.
