Guam – The Department of Mental Health and Substance abuse trained 127 Army reservists and their family members on suicide prevention and early intervention. Guam National guard Chaplain Karl Flores spoke about stigma as a barrier when addressing suicide, as well as gave a brief historical background about suicide on Guam using cultural perspective and Bible scripture. He encouraged soldiers to develop a deeper understanding of the risk factors that may lead to suicide. DMHSA's Bobbie Benavente and Helene Paulino also detailed the work accomplished to raise community awareness about the rate of suicide
