If the rest of the NBC pilots are as good as the pilot of "Up All Night", the network could be looking towards a pretty successful fall season. "Up All Night" is a new sitcom about a working mother and her stay at home husband who takes care of their newborn daughter. The couple does their best to balance their work with their personal lives at home.
Having recovered from the initial complications of child birth, Reagan (Christina Applegate) is ready to get back to work as a producer for a hit talk show. Her understanding husband Chris (Will Arnett) is ready to assume duties as stay-at-home father to take care of their newborn daughter. Soon, the couple learns that life is not that simple when you must make the transition into parenthood. With the demands of her boss Ava (Maya Rudolph) and the added stress of coming home to the responsibilities of parenting, Reagan struggles to maintain her sanity.
"Up All Night" is quite funny. Christina Applegate is the perfect choice for the part of Reagan, as her blend of sarcasm and charisma cause her to outshine most of the cast. Will Arnett does well in his role as a pretty lazy, inconsiderate father who loves his wife and child, yet figures countless ways to juggle those priorities while maintaining the fun in his life. Maya Rudolph fills the role of eccentric boss (kind of like Alec Baldwin on 30 Rock), and while he did not appear in the pilot, Nick Cannon is slated to have an integral role in the series.
If the series can keep up the level of humor as well as introduce new dynamics to the family setting as well as work setting (possibly another love interest for both Reagan and Chris in order to spark some jealous drama) then I think the series will have great longevity. Let's hope it does!
