"Captain America: The First Avenger" is a 2 hour look at the origin of one of Marvel's most beloved characters. Steve Rodgers (Chris Evans) is a small, sickly, young man who would do anything to fight for his country. When the opportunity to undergo an experimental process to turn him into a super soldier comes along, he jumps at it. Increases in power, speed and strength make Captain America the ideal soldier. But perhaps there are traits that Rodgers already possessed that make him such a valuable asset?

"Captain America" resonates with the classic theme of "determination and a good heart will always guarantee success no matter how great the obstacle." Amidst a class of talented soldiers, the weak and frail Steve Rodgers gets picked because 1)he thinks outside the box 2)he shows extreme self-sacrifice. Basically, the movie is broken down into three parts: 1)How does Steve Rodgers get the job as Captain America? 2)Is there more meaning in the role of Captain America than just a motivational figurehead? 3)Let's go fight Red Skull (Hugo Weaving).

Captain America is wonderfully shot. The costume looks awesome, the fights are cool, and Chris Evans exudes charisma. In fact, Chris Evans is the only thing my girlfriend remembers about the movie. Thankfully, I remember a few other things about the film aside from how buff Chris Evans was.

If there is one glaring problem with the film, it is its poor organization. Scenes jump with no transition and the major story lines have little to no cohesion. This causes the film to end rather abruptly and is pretty disappointing.

But I can't take away from the fact that "Captain America" is very enjoyable. Watch it tonight at the Tango Theatres.

3.5 out of 5 stars.
