Guam - The Guam Environmental Protection Agency intends to issue the draft operations permit for Guam Resource Recovery Partners' plans to build a landfill at Atantano, Santa Rita. GEPA administrator Ivan Quinata says the agency is still finalizing the conditions that will be contained in that permit before they can begin the 45 day public comment period.
He told KUAM News, "It also requires that they have a building permit in order to really start doing construction work at the site and that hasn't been completed. We're still waiting on documents we've requested from GRRP and that includes the hydro geological study on the site."
Quinata says the draft permit must be issued before public comments can be accepted on the company's plans for a private landfill.
