Guam - More than one hundred Guam Army National Guard soldiers will be deploying to the Philippines this week to join others with the U.S. and Philippine armed forces. The group will participate in the annual Balikatan Exercise, which is hopes to improve bilateral joint operational capabilities between the two countries and is vital to maintaining the readiness of the troops.

The Guam soldiers with the 105th Troop Command, 1671st Signal Detachment will be out there for two weeks operating as the forward command and control element for the operations of U.S. forces on Fort Magsaysay, as well as provide communications support.
