14 suspected whooping cough cases reported
Guam - The Guam Department of Public Health has confirmed additional cases of whooping cough on island. Out of the fourteen reports the agency received of Pertussis, seven so far have been laboratory confirmed, with six remaining as suspect case and one that was determined not to be whooping cough.
The investigation of the cases has not shown a link to one another or to an off-island source. Pertussis is a highly contagious bacterial disease of the respiratory tract. It spreads by direct contact with discharge from the nose and throat of the infected individuals.
