Liam Neeson stars in "Unknown", a thriller about a man on a trip in Germany with his wife who wakes up with no identity. Dr. Martin Harris (Neeson) is an accomplished scientist ready to give a speech at a seminar in Germany. The taxi he is in loses control and crashes into a river. He wakes up four days later in a hospital with no form of identification and only bits and pieces of his memory restored. When he finds his wife Elizabeth (January Jones) back at the conference, it turns out that there already is a Martin Harris and Elizabeth is married to that man. Has Martin Harris become delusional or is he someone else?
"Unknown" is an interesting thriller but is fairly predictable. Neeson is as always, charismatic and delivers a believable performance. The supporting cast does a pretty good job as well. However, the plot unravels very slowly and when it is finally revealed, you almost can't believe that the outcome was so obvious.
A fairly amusing film, "Unknown" will grab hold of your attention. Unfortunately, it is such a chore to sit through that the final surprise does not justify the 80 minutes you spent leading up to it.
2 out of 5 stars.
