The comedy is below average, but with Sandler and Aniston, we can "Just Go With It"

Director: Dennis Dugan

Time: 1 hour and 50 minutes

Genre: Comedy

Starring: Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston, Brooklyn Decker, Nicole Kidman

Adam Sandler's latest offering lacks the classic humor that have made his films so enjoyable. However, the film has a few hilarious moments that salvage it. Consider the film a tribute to the careers of its two top stars: Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler.

Danny (Adam Sandler) is a successful plastic surgeon who picks up women by telling them that he has a wife that treats him bad. When he meets Palmer (Brooklyn Decker), a beautiful teacher, Danny thinks he has found the love of his life. But when Palmer finds his fake wedding ring, Danny creates a lie that grows out of control. After enlisting the help of his assistant Katherine (Jennifer Aniston), Danny falls into lie after lie to keep his dream girl. But is Palmer really the girl of his dreams, or has Danny ignored an existing valuable relationship?

What we have here is standard Adam Sandler fare -- slapstick humor with heavy sexual innuendos. Unfortunately, Sandler tries to tone down the severity of the jokes and it negatively affects the outcome. Many of the jokes just aren't that funny and even more turn out to be too corny. Also, the issue that Danny deals with in the film is elementary at best and to see an adult struggle with this concept for 100 minutes is insulting to the audience.

The chemistry between Sandler and Aniston is great though, and strong supporting performances by Nicole Kidman and Brooklyn Decker (in her debut role) round out the cast well. Aniston is in tip top shape for the film and her charisma helps keep the film afloat.

It isn't the greatest comedy of the year, and it isn't even the best comedy currently in theatres, but Sandler and Aniston do enough to persuade the audience to "Just Go With It".

2 out of 5 stars.
