Customers waiting on parts for water hookup

Guam - Over 30 residential customers are waiting for their meters to be installed so they can have water at their homes. Guam Waterworks Authority spokesperson Heidi Ballendorf says the agency has the meters but lacks special parts needed for the installation. The agency didn't get the money to purchase the items until last month.
Because GWA doesn't have any in stock, residents are left without tap at their homes until the parts arrive on island, which is expected in the next few weeks. "There's a whole different set of requirements. We don't carry all of those parts because we don't have a big demand for new meter installation every day. Like I said, we're averaging about one a day so as soon as those parts come in we'll be installing those in the ground," said Ballendorf.
The spokesperson adds the agency does have meters in stock, and stresses that the parts on order is only impacting new residential customers who are waiting for water hookups.
