Guam - Although a special meeting of the Guam Education Board will be held this Thursday, according to Department of Education Superintendent Dr. Nerissa Bretania Underwood the Governor's appointees won't be able to officially act. The reason why it's of concern is because their budget deadline is right around the corner.

"There is a public law that requires the board to submit the budget by the end of this month and so we certainly know that we need to have the new board members confirmed. So with that, we are working toward complying with the law," she told KUAM News.

DOE is requesting a $288 million budget for next fiscal year, $20 million more than this year.
