Guam - In line with his efforts to stop runaway government spending, Governor Eddie Calvo signed an executive order today suspending any personnel actions approved prior to January 3. Governor Calvo stressed that the government can't go on spending at the rate it is.

Any pending action by DOA and BBMR have been ordered to be held in abeyance with the exception of hiring for positions directly affecting health, education and safety. The governor also ordered his cabinet members to assess agency operations and budgets and provide assessment reports on cost cutting by the end of the month.

Public Auditor Doris Flores Brooks has also been asked to assess and verify the liabilities of the government.
