Director: Todd Phillips
Time: 1 hour 35 minutes
Genre: Comedy
Starring: Robert Downey Jr., Zach Galifianakis, Jamie Foxx
From the director of "the Hangover" and "Old School' comes this absurd comedy about two men forced to make a road trip across the United States and get into Los Angeles on time for their respective issues. For Peter Highman (Robert Downey Jr.) that issue is the birth of his first child. For aspiring actor Ethan Tremblay (Zach Galifianakis) that is an interview for a role on a popular sitcom. As the pair trek across the country, they face numerous predicaments -- will the two make it to L. A. on time?
"Due Date" is an adequate follow-up to Todd Phillips other films, but lacks the originality of its predecessors. Every funny scene in the film is based solely on Galifianakis' character and not on the setting of the scene itself. While this is a compliment to Zach's comedic skills, it does not say much for the movie. Phillips might've well just put Downey Jr and Galifianakis in a room for 90 minutes.
Nevertheless, "Due Date" is an ample comedy with numerous funny moments. While not the best comedy of the year, it does offer a consistent set of laughs over its 90 minute run.
2.5 out of 5 stars.
