Guam - The only facility for homeless families on Guam is asking for your help. Guma San Jose, which opened in Dededo in April, is already at capacity - currently housing 24 adults and 27 children. Josephine Rosario, the center's project director, says they desperately need blankets, books, toys, pillows, toiletries, computers, lawn furnishings and playground equipment.
She says families may find themselves at Guma San Jose "if they lost a job or something beyond their control or also there is too many of them in a house and somehow the landlord found out they are not listed in the rental unit so they get evicted."
Residents can stay for up to 60 days at the facility. Rosario says they are also looking for volunteers at the shelter. To donate or lend a hand you may call 633-2955 or 637-2957.
