Guam - His message was clear: Republicans must unite to be victorious.  National Republican Committee Chairman Michael Steele delivered a pep talk to the island's GOP members.  "It's quite an honor to have you here," began Governor Felix Camacho. "We never had a person [sic] within the party at your level to come and visit us and I want to say thank you so much."

Steele was like a coach delivering a pep talk to his players - the Republican gubernatorial and senatorial candidates who made it past the primary and will head to the Decision 2010 General Election.  He announced, "It's time to stop messing around, it's time to stop complaining, and whining, looking backwards, its now time to look forward, its now time to move together, it's to show what your made of here on Guam."

Steele shared the GOP's efforts throughout the country and brought a message of victory to party members on the island, adding, "Somebody asked me well why you going to Guam? Because there is a vibrant republican party that's going to win election in November...the reason I'm here is because of what you do and what you will do as leaders of our party."

Steele also touched on the type of elected leaders that people are looking for to run the government.  "More and more, people are rising up and they're looking for the leadership that's not going to make excuses, that's not going to say the government knows better than you, that's not going to help institutionalize their lives but help free up their lives," he stated.

"This is your challenge, this is your opportunity - don't screw it up."

The former lieutenant governor of Maryland also quoted former president Ronald Regan saying, "We Win/They Lose" when referring to the Democrats.  "The Republican Party winning here in Guam sends a message across the country about a readiness, a competitiveness and our willingness to work for victory."

Steele provided assurances that the RNC is committed to ensuring that the GOP on Guam acquires the majority on Guam.  The chairperson visited Republicans in the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas today.
