A 38-year-old woman is behind bars, accused of keeping a rental car past its due date and altering its temporary license plate.  Chelsea Arian Taimanglo has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle as a second-degree felony and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle as a misdemeanor.

According to a magistrate’s complaint, a Nissan Rent-A-Car employee reported on January 19 that a 2025 dark gray Sentra had not been returned. Records show the vehicle was rented on January 4, with payments made through January 15. After that, no additional payments were received and efforts to reach taimanglo were unsuccessful.

Police issued an all-points bulletin for the missing vehicle.

On February 9, officers located the Sentra in Yona. Investigators discovered the front temporary plate was missing, and the rear temporary plate had allegedly been altered with black marker to appear as a different number. Officers confirmed the VIN matched the reported rental.

Taimanglo was later found at a nearby residence and taken in for questioning. She admitted she had not made payments since mid-January and acknowledged knowing the temporary plate had been altered, but denied making the change herself, blaming a former boyfriend.
