The Guam Legislature has confirmed Colonel Karin L. Watson as the new adjutant general of the Guam National Guard and director of the Department of Military Affairs.

Following the confirmation, Senator Shawn Gumataotao issued a statement congratulating TAG Watson and thanking her and her family for accepting the governor’s call to serve.

Watson received overwhelming support during her legislative confirmation hearing, with testimony highlighting her character, determination, and decorated leadership—beginning as an immigrant to the United States and a member of the University of Guam US Army ROTC battalion, to senior command and management roles.

He added that more than 1,200 members of the Guam National Guard and their families are counting on Watson’s leadership, especially amid rising military tensions in the Indo-Pacific.

Gumataotao says his office stands ready to support the new adjutant general as she moves forward with policies aimed at strengthening Guam’s support for its soldiers and airmen.
