The Guam Community College Board of Trustees announced today that Dr. Mary. Okada has concluded her service as president. The announcement was made during the board’s regular meeting on Tuesday.

Okada retires after 18 years of dedicated leadership, guiding GCC’s growth as a leader in career and technical education and sustaining the college’s highest level of accreditation with the Accrediting Commission of Community and Junior Colleges.

The board unanimously appointed Dr. Virginia Tudela, vice president for academic affairs, as interim president. With more than 23 years of service to GCC, Dr. Tudela brings deep institutional knowledge and a strong commitment to academic excellence, quality, and accreditation.

Okada emphasized continuity during the transition, offering her experience as a mentor to support the college’s next chapter. Board chair Carlo Leon Guerrero noted that her continued presence will help anchor the past, present, and future of GCC as the search for the next president moves forward.
