Traffic stop leads to drug charge
A 40-year-old man is facing felony drug charges following a traffic stop in Dededo. According to a magistrate’s complaint, Zachary Troy Aquino Cruz was charged Thursday with possession of a schedule II controlled substance as a third-degree felony.
Police say around 10:30 Wednesday morning, Cruz turned his Toyota pickup in front of a patrol vehicle on Dairy Road, then drifted onto the shoulder and failed to stop at a stop sign.
Officers pulled the vehicle over and noted Cruz appeared extremely nervous.
A detector dog named Hanzo was called to the scene and alerted to the vehicle.
During a search of the pickup’s center console, officers reported finding a glass pipe and two baggies containing methamphetamine.
