Man charged in sexual assault case involving minor
A 35-year-old man has been formally charged in connection with the sexual assault of a minor, according to a magistrate’s complaint filed in superior court on January 4.
Joseph Mantanona, Jr. faces charges of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, a second-degree felony, and fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct, a third-degree felony. The complaint was filed in court on Jan. 4, following an investigation into allegations reported last year.
According to court documents, Guam Police officers responded to a criminal sexual conduct complaint on Sept. 24, 2025, and met with a 17-year-old minor accompanied by a Child Protective Services worker. The victim told officers she was sexually assaulted multiple times in 2022, when she was 14 years old, at a residence in Dededo.
The complaint alleges the defendant threatened the victim to prevent her from reporting the incidents.
