Two Guam Department of Education high schools are being recognized for their environmental leadership. John F. Kennedy and Simon Sanchez High School teachers Carolyn Haruo and Melanie Blas earned national recognition for their commitment to environmental education. 

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Ocean Guardian School Program featuring the school’s accomplishments and student projects on its national website. 

The past school year, combined Ocean Guardian teams generated over 1,000 student service learning hours through their efforts aimed at reducing marine debris and promoting environmental awareness.
