Natibu donates prize money from Dance Festival to visiting teams from Japan
Natibu Dance Academy group took top honors at the first-ever Guam International Dance Festival — and then turned their victory into a gift. Under the direction of Dr. Benjie Santiago, Natibu won Best Cultural Performance and a $5,000 prize.
But in a surprise moment at the end of the festival, they donated their entire winnings to two visiting groups from Japan — the Yarutaka Yosakoi team and the Guma House Cultural Group led by Ms. Asami.
A gesture many called “beautiful to witness,” and a reflection of the Chamoru spirit of hospitality and unity. Dr. B and his students left the crowd in awe — not just with their performance, but with their heart.
