GPD launches internal probe into traffic-stop incident
The Guam Police Department is now conducting an internal affairs investigation after an alleged incident between a high-ranking officer and a patrol officer.
GPD spokesperson Norman Analista confirms the incident stems from a traffic stop — followed by a meeting between the senior officer, the patrol officer, and that officer’s command staff.
Media inquiries about the matter reached the department before Chief Stephen Ignacio was even briefed. After reviewing reports, the chief referred the case to internal affairs for a formal review.
GPD says no further details can be released to protect the privacy of those involved. Internal Affairs has 90 days to complete its investigation. The case remains open.
