GVB hosting star-studded inaugural Guam International Dance Festival
For the first time in our island's history, an international event celebrating the art of dance is being held. And while recitals, talent shows and competitions are great, the Guam International Dance Festival "plus-one's" the beauty and astistry of movement.
Throughout global cultures and across the vastness of the ocean, dance is a practice that all people love. And we Pacific islanders take it seriously, both as art form, recreation, and as a way of honoring our heritage. It plays right into our hospitality to welcome others to share this love of dance. (And as you'll see this weekend at the inaugural Guam International Dance Festival, we're pretty good at it, too!)
Regine Bisco Lee, president and CEO of the Guam Visitors Bureau, said, "This event marks a milestone for our island as we introduce a brand new signature event that celebrates culture, community, and creativity. The Guam International Dance Festival will bring together dance groups from across the region, including talented performers from right here at home. Over the course of the weekend, attendees can enjoy community dance workshops that are free and open to all skill levels, celebrity judges from the international dance community, and a dynamic competition featuring diverse styles of cultural expression.
"This festival is designed to be an immersive, inclusive, and fun um event for residents and visitors of all ages."
GVB is hosting a star-studded, first-ever Guam International Dance Festival this weekend with competition and collaborations. And some familiar faces that have represented their island roots on the mainland, viral choreographer Brian Esperon and Dr. Ahtoy Juliana, director of @bailasociety, are home to share their wisdom and passion with informative, intractive masterclasses.
So check out the Guam Visitors Bureau on socials for the schedule and show up and be amazed at te event of the holiday season.
