A man with a lengthy criminal history is back in custody — after police say he tried to break into a home, then asked officers to “just toss” a straw that tested positive for meth. 44-year-old Jayson Francisco Song was charged with possession of a schedule II controlled substance and attempted criminal trespass.

Court documents say a woman called police late Saturday night after seeing Song on her surveillance camera trying to get into her home and garage — despite previously telling him not to return. She cited his erratic behavior, which she believed was drug-related.

A neighbor reported seeing a man matching his description flee the area. When officers found Song, they say he refused to stop until they physically intervened.

During a search, police recovered a cut plastic straw that tested positive for meth. According to the complaint, Song first called it paraphernalia — and then asked officers to throw it away.

Song — who has 10 prior arrests and convictions for theft, family violence, and drug crimes — now faces up to six years in prison. He’s being held on $1,000 cash bail.
