Bottled water distribution for the Santa Rosa/Yigo area is expected to end this week.
The Guam Waterworks Authority says the final day of service will be Wednesday, November 12, following four consecutive weeks of “non-detect” results for dieldrin at Well Y-15.
In a release, GWA says, “These consistent results confirm that the water from Well Y-15 is now safe to drink, cook with, and use for personal hygiene.”
Bottled water distribution began on October 2.
Since then, GWA reports it has handed out over 35,000 cases of bottled water, costing roughly $253,000.
Meantime, as KUAM reported, GWA has formally asked the Guam Environmental Protection Agency to lift the “Do Not Drink” order for the Yigo/Santa Rosa area.
