The Guam Community College has unveiled its newly renovated student success center, marking another milestone in the school’s commitment to putting students first.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Friday at GCC’s Mangilao campus to celebrate the grand opening of the 6,000-square-foot facility, also known as Building B. The $6.3 million project began in 2022 and was funded through the Governor’s Education Stabilization Fund and GCC’s Capital Projects Fund—adding no debt to the college.

The new center houses the Assessment and Counseling Department, GCC ID services, the Faculty Senate Office, and a new computer lab with an outdoor veranda. It’s also designed to meet LEED environmental standards, making it GCC’s eighth green building.

President Dr. Mary Okada called the facility “the heart of the campus,” crediting students for inspiring the project.  “Our students were the driving force behind this project… this building stands as proof of that,” she said.

Dr. Okada also praised the team for its dedication—from design to construction—saying GCC continues to live by its motto: "Students First, Mission Always.”
