Mangilao Donne Festival heats up the weekend

In Mangilao over the weekend, the hot weather was the perfect setting for the village's Donne Festival. Mother Nature played nice over the weekend, blessing us with great weather, which played a huge role in the success of the annual celebration of Guam's hot pepper.
Taking part in organizing this year's festivities were the Mangilao Mayor's Office's Clarissa Borja and community volunteer Jenei Aguon. They spoke about how they wanted to spice it up this year.
And this year, with the kadon pika, pika desert, and denache contests, Borja said,"Spice up the competition! Yeah, the return of the Hottest Donne Eating Comptetition. The last time we did that, I believe, was in 2017. So we are bringing that back this year."
And securing bragging rights were:
- Biggest Donne Pepper- Joe Campos
- Best Pika Dessert- Hu Guaiya Mini Pancakes
- Best Kadon Pika Mannok- Melton Jr. Duenas
- Best Donne Dinanche- Vanessa Reyes- Agat in the House
- Hottest Donne Eating Competition- Juan Meno
The event capped off with fireworks.
