Governor Lou Leon Guerrero and Lieutenant Governor Josh Tenorio are inviting the people of Guam to join the annual Government of Guam Labor Day Picnic on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Governor Joseph Flores Beach Park.

This year’s theme, “Lumå'la i Estoria-ta or History Comes Alive,” continues the island’s celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Organic Act of Guam.

Families and friends can look forward to live entertainment, delicious food and refreshments, as well as games and activities for all ages.

In addition to the festivities, the Leon Guerrero–Tenorio administration will be doing something special this year: Recognizing local government employees with awards that highlight the spirit of public service. These awards honor the contributions of dedicated workers whose service, leadership, and labor reflect the very best of our GovGuam workforce.

The following recognitions will be presented:

  • Director’s Choice Award Nominee – For those who have earned the trust and appreciation of their peers and leaders through steady commitment and positive example.
  • Longest Serving Award Nominee  – For those whose years of service represent perseverance, stability, and impact on our island community.
  • Director’s Choice Award – For employees whose outstanding service and leadership have advanced the mission and vision of their agencies.
  • Longest Serving Award – For employees whose dedication and longevity have provided continuity and guidance to their agencies and the people they serve.
  • Lieutenant Governor’s Choice Award – For employees who embody the values of responsibility, integrity, and compassion, making a meaningful impact on the people of Guam.
  • Governor’s Choice Award – For employees whose leadership, dedication, and compassion have uplifted their agencies and strengthened the well-being of our community.

“Labor Day is a time to celebrate the hard work and contributions of our people,” said Leon Guerrero. “This year, we are proud to also honor the men and women of the Government of Guam whose service has strengthened our community and moved our island forward.”

Lt. Governor Tenorio added, “What better way to recognize our brightest and most dedicated co-workers than giving these honors in front of their family, friends, neighbors, and peers. When public service is at its best, a real change for the better happens. Every day, Guam’s civil servants move mountains to protect the vulnerable, get results for their customers, and shape a brighter future for the home they love. And we hope our workforce and their loved ones enjoy the day of food, music, and fun as a token of our gratitude.”

The annual Labor Day Picnic is free and open to the public.
