Man who fled into jungle after traffic stop now faces drug charges

A man who slipped away from police earlier this month by running into the jungle has now been captured—this time facing serious drug charges.
45-year-old John Gilfigiray Gilfigrag Gilngachlen was arrested Monday after officers linked him to methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia found in the vehicle he abandoned on AUGUST 4. POLICE say Gilngachlen initially fled after being pulled over for expired registration tags, but they recognized him from past encounters, and his passenger confirmed his identity.
At the time, Gilngachlen was already out on bond for a separate case involving a fraudulent license plate. This week, Judge Jonathan Quan ordered him held on $5,000 cash bail. If convicted on the current felony charge, gilngachlen could spend up to 28 years behind bars.
