Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero and Lt. Gov. Josh Tenorio announced the theme and logo for this year's 75th Liberation celebration.

Along with the lieutenant governor, Speaker Tina Muna Barnes serves as co-chair of this year's festivities. The speaker explained the logo's significance.

"We will start with our sling stone," she said. "It's used in times of war and represents courage, resiliency and perseverance. Our colors are the red white and blue it brings together our shared history with the United States of America, our stars represent our collective aspirations of global peace and harmony and the white doves with the olive branch represents a perpetual peace with inclusion and diversity."

The theme of this year's liberation is "A Legacy of Peace and Friendship." Several activities and memorial are planned to commemorate Guam's 75th.

Additionally, Guam's own Pia Mia will be returning to island for a concert tentatively scheduled for July 20.
