Guam - Those who commit crimes against the most vulnerable in our community could face additional jail time if Bill 272 is passed into law. Senator Brant McCreadie introduced the Vulnerable Victims Act of 2014 today to send a strong message to criminals.
"This is another piece of legislation my office worked on with the attorney general that identifies those victims, seniors, children, persons with disabilities, as well as our visitors which is our number one industry, our economic driving force," he said.
The measure would impose a sentencing enhancement for crimes committed against these individuals in our community. Bill 272 seeks to impose a mandatory five year sentence for those who are convicted of a felony and a mandatory 60 days behind bars for a petty misdemeanor.
