Plans for Singapore F-15 deployment to Guam scrapped

The U.S. Air Force has pulled the plug on plans to station a dozen Republic of Singapore Air Force F-15 fighter jets at Andersen Air Force Base.
In a record of decision released last week, the Air Force cited operational analysis, site surveys, environmental and economic factors, and military judgment in canceling the so-called “bed down” of the aircraft.
The decision means roughly 200 Singaporean personnel and their families, who were expected to relocate to Guam, will no longer be coming.
The plan was first announced in 2021 and was projected to begin in 2029, calling for new airfield pavement, a parking apron, fuel lines, and other upgrades.
It's still unclear if those infrastructure projects will move forward despite the cancellation.
A Memorandum of Understanding between the U.S. and Singapore Defense Departments for the training detachment had been in place since 2019.
