Guam’s skilled workforce continues to grow as more students complete apprenticeship and training programs through the GCA Trades Academy in partnership with the Guam Department of Labor.

The latest graduates represent a diverse group of individuals preparing for careers in construction, telecommunications, project management, and other high-demand fields.

Among the 33 who earned certificates were four individuals who completed the Registered Apprenticeship Program in the telecommunications industry with coursework in electrical systems.

One participant, part of the American Job Center’s Disabled Veterans’ Outreach Program, completed a certificate in Project Management.

The group also includes three high school students who successfully finished courses in construction and field safety.

Other participants earned certifications in HVAC, heavy equipment operation, offload dump truck driving, and various levels of field safety training.

“These certificates represent a diversified range of skill levels and training, and our ongoing commitment to expand apprenticeship opportunities,” said Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero. “We are continuing the work to build up our workforce as we invest in these critical programs that provide hands-on experience, industry-recognized credentials, and real pathways to stable, high-demand careers for our people.”

Lt. Governor Josh Tenorio added, “This graduation marks more than just the completion of classes and courses, it represents hard work and determination to pursue meaningful careers. We commend their commitment to contributing to the current and future needs of our island’s workforce.”

“This is exactly what apprenticeship programs are designed to do: train people with the skills they need to meet real workforce demands,” said GDOL Director David Dell’Isola. “These individuals identified areas of interest and skill that directly align with jobs available in our local industries. The goal is to connect them with long-term employment opportunities and help businesses fill essential positions with trained, local talent.”
