A corrections officer is under arrest, accused of assaulting a police officer while off duty.

It happened outside a Tamuning nightclub in the early hours of Aug. 3.

Police responded to a report of an unconscious man, later identified as an off-duty officer, bleeding from the head and visibly injured.

Witnesses told police the officer had been punched in the face and knocked out as he exited the club.

The alleged assailant, identified as ?Felix Malcom Quinata Sanchez, a Corrections Officer II, was reportedly seen wearing a shirt labeled “corrections” the night of the incident.

The victim declined further medical treatment but later contacted police to pursue charges, stating Sanchez had called him after the attack.

According to the magistrate’s complaint, Sanchez initially denied being involved, but later admitted to punching the officer, telling police he was trying to “subdue him” and that “you can't let big guys get the first punch on you.”

Sanchez also deleted call logs and chat history before giving a statement, though claimed it was unrelated to the case.

He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault as a third-degree felony and destroying evidence as a misdemeanor.

The Department of Corrections confirms Sanchez has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of both the criminal and internal investigations.
