Villagers in northern and central Guam can now breathe easy, as the Guam Waterworks Authority ended its boil water notice for Yigo and Mangilao. The notice was issued before sundown Friday after the utility agency reported the that GWA Well Y-3 had tested positive for E.coli bacteria, a fecal indicator organism, in raw water samples collected on July 17.

"We are pleased to report that the potential problem has been corrected and that it is no longer necessary to boil the water before drinking it. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience," GWA agency stated in a press release.

Residents in the large villages were advised to boil water to be used for drinking, food prep, brushing teeth, making ice, and washing dishes.
